Fashion, food, and conversation make for one stylin' soiree
By Jennifer Sauer
Canaiden LLC and the New England Fashion + Design Association (NEF+DA) hosted a party on March 6, 2008 to celebrate the launch of Hauterfly Magazine, Connecticut’s premiere fashion publication.
The Place:
The SoNo Design CoOp is located on the southbound side of the South Norwalk train station, and as I walked—in party gear—past tired looking commuters, I knew I was in for something special. Then I breezed past the velvet rope and truly felt like a fashion insider. The lobby was the hub of activity: samples of designer work decorated each corner, and models confidently navigated between the fabulous guests.
The People:
What happens when you pair media, city officials, publishing professionals, designers from all over the world, fashion students from Gibbs College, a documentary filmmaker and even a matchmaker from Great Date Now? High octave conversation. And loads of business card swapping.
The Highlight:
For up-and-coming fashion designers Daniel Mayorga and Amy Bryant, and photographer AnnaMaria Weclawek, this was their first night, among many, to enjoy the spotlight. For hosts and NEF+DA founders Irina Simeonova and Marc Feldman, the party—and the launch of Hauterfly magazine—was a raging success: “Our goals are to raise awareness of fashion, educate, and promote young designers. We accomplished all in one fabulous night.”
